Miriam Abbad, fleet manager at Mensura since January 2021, oversees the entire fleet from A to Z. Managing approximately 500 vehicles, both diesel and electric, presents a complex challenge. “We transitioned from external fleet management to a fully in-house operation,” Miriam explains. “That means I handle everything: from vehicle delivery to daily support like fuel cards, replacement cars, and even practical matters like car decals. No two days are the same, which makes my job both challenging and exciting.”

Overcoming challenges in the shift to electric

The transition to electric vehicles brought its own set of challenges, particularly regarding user acceptance. “In Wallonia, there is still a lot of skepticism about electric driving due to the less extensive charging network compared to Flanders,” Miriam explains. “This sometimes leads to uncertainty and range anxiety among employees.” Additionally, Mensura had to adapt its internal processes to the specific requirements of EV driving, such as conducting home charging audits and integrating EV-specific systems.

Even complex situations, such as taking over existing charging stations, are handled professionally.”
